The Headteacher

The classrooms and corridors at Merlin are alive with happy learners, working together, enjoying a challenge, and having a go. Our children are supported, challenged, and stimulated in an environment full of rich opportunities and experiences; they are confident and curious with a strong sense of resilience. Merlin provides a warm, nurturing environment, where each child is seen and valued as an individual, and which always seeks to allow children to reach their own potential.

The sense of teamwork is as apparent among staff as it is between the children, and we always work in partnership with families. It is the mission of the staff at Merlin to deliver an inspiring and creative curriculum with real breadth, and pupils are brilliantly prepared for the next stage of their school career. I look forward to welcoming you to Merlin.

A message from the Principal

I am extremely proud to be given the role of Principal at Merlin School having passed the Headship to Violet McConville after eighteen years. I look forward to supporting Violet, and the Merlin School, where pupils are given an outstanding education to discover and develop their talents and interests from such a young age.

Having been involved in education since the 1990s, a great deal has changed during that time. For schools, and for parents, technology and the impact that it has made in the world of work, for example, has meant that schools, have had to re-think ideas about the kinds of skills that children are going to need if they are to thrive in the future: creativity, invention, collaboration, managing risks and problem-solving are more important than ever before, to ensure our children are being well prepared for their future. I look forward to supporting the school with its onward journey.
