When can my child start school?

Children can join Merlin’s Pre-School in the September following their third birthday.

Tours

Registration

Registration can be completed at any point after your child is born. The registration form can be accessed here.

Entering the Pre-School

Joining the Pre-School offers the opportunity for a seamless transition to the Reception year of the Main School. Children entering the Pre-School must have turned 3 prior to September, in line with the academic intake years going forward.

Offers

Offers for the Pre-School are sent one year in advance of start date, i.e. the preceding September, (after their second birthday) and are allocated on first come first served basis. Families registering after this point will be sent a Pre-School place offer, subject to available places. Further information can be found in our Admissions Policy.

Occasional Places

Occasional places may be offered at the Headteacher’s discretion throughout the year, subject to availability.

Merlin is fully committed to inclusivity pays due regard to ‘The Equality Act 2010 and Schools’ (May 2014). It is essential that we are made fully aware of any pre-assessed needs at the time of registration in order to ensure we can fully meet the needs of the child.
