When can my child start school?

Children can join Reception year of the Main School in the September after their fourth birthday.

Registration

Registration can be completed at any point after your child is born for the Pre-School or the Main School (Pre-Prep). The registration form can be accessed here.

Tours

We recommend that prospective parents visit us on one of our school tours.  Tours can be booked directly via our website by clicking here.

Offers

Offers for the Reception year of the Main School are sent approximately eleven months in advance of start date, i.e. the preceding October, and are allocated on a first come first served basis, at that point. Parents can secure their child’s place by completing the acceptance form, paying a fee deposit of £2000 and agreeing to the terms and conditions, prior to the given deadline. Occasional Places

Occasional places may be offered at the Headteacher’s discretion throughout the year, subject to availability.

Merlin is fully committed to inclusivity and pays due regard to ‘The Equality Act 2010 and Schools’ (May 2014). It is essential that we are made fully aware of any pre-assessed needs at the time of registration.

The school is co-educational and aims to maintain a balance between boys and girls. The nature of our timetable ensures that all the children are organised into a variety of classes for many subjects, so the children will continue to mix and develop their friendships. The school considers many factors when deciding class lists to ensure a successful and happy school career for all.
