The Merlin School Uniform
Please ensure that all uniform is all clearly named, including PE/Games kit and any shoes (this enables children to keep track of their clothes independently). If you have bought second-hand uniform, please resew your child’s name into it – it’s very hard for little ones trying to look after their items if these don’t have their name in them.
Please see below for specific uniform requirements:
All items listed above and marked with an * are available from Billings and Edmonds, 112 Chiswick High Road, Chiswick, W4 IPU. All uniform can be ordered from Billings and Edmonds either by phone or on their website. Green Merlin rucksacks must be purchased from Billings and Edmonds but all other items may be bought from any other source.
General Appearance, Trainers, Jewellery, Watches, Shoes
It is important that children come to school smartly and appropriately dressed, wearing the correct uniform throughout their time at the Merlin. Trainers are only allowed during PE, sports lessons and some school trips. Hair accessories are permitted if they are in Merlin blue or green. Children are not permitted to wear jewellery in school apart from children with pierced ears who may wear small, discreet, plain studs – absolutely no hoops.
From Year 1 upwards, watches are allowed, as long as they are plain and named. If they become a distraction, class teachers will speak to parents. ALL UNIFORM AND PE KIT MUST BE CLEARLY NAMED (this enables children to keep track of their clothes independently).
Coats & Woolly Hats
It is advisable to send your child with a coat to school every day, except in extreme heat waves. They will always need a waterproof at break time to enjoy playing on the playground. If the coat sits on their coat peg all day it doesn't matter, but at least if a sudden inclement shower hits, they are prepared. Please also ensure that children bring Merlin winter hats during the cold weather.
Shoes
Black/Blue leather shoes only, black patent shoes are not acceptable as school uniform. Trainers are only allowed during PE, sports lessons and some school trips.
